Caesar Passes a Healthcare Bill that Includes Funding for Abortion: On the Night Before Christmas

The healthcare bill of the United States of America will apparently include taxpayer funding for abortion. Even more demonic is that this is passed on the day of Christmas Eve, the eve of the Nativity of our Lord. These events certain press us to study the doctrine of the two kingdoms and to apply law and gospel accordingly. May we not be guilty of what some accused Lutherans of during World War II. While we live in the end times (Hebrews 1), we are called to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves and help and befriend our neighbor in every bodily need.

I got a phone call and pre-posted.

To note: This is just the Senate bill - it still has to be reconciled. Plus, the house bill couldn't pass with the abortion provision -- so we will see what happens.

So the bill hasn't really passed yet - we don't know how this will play out -- and if you live in a place where your reps are wavering, by all means call them.

Rev. Brown is right. I heard on the news on the radio some House Democrat (can't remember the name sorry) said that he has 30 other Representatives who will not allow any bill with abortion funding to pass the House.

There's still hope this boondoggle might not pan out.

There is also a problem here:

Sen. Barbara Mikulski, a pro-abortion Maryland Democrat, offered Amendment No. 2791 dealing with federally mandated coverage of "preventive care."

Though most of the discussion on the amendment centered on a mammogram coverage problem in the bill, it presents significant concerns for pro-life advocates.

The Mikulski amendment would essentially open the door to defining abortion as "preventative care" and could result in mandates to private insurance plans that they define abortion as such and provide coverage of it.

The Mikulski amendment would be placed into the "individual and group market reforms" section at the very beginning of the Senate health care reform bill requiring global "reforms" that would affect all health care plans.

These requirements will bind every health plan in the nation aside from whether or not a given plan seeks to meet or does meet the requirements of a "qualified health plan" eligible to participate in the exchange.

Abortion is not the only moral problem in these bills. The effect of the funding mechanisms would be to discourage and punish marriage, while encouraging and rewarding non-marital cohabitation. Read more here.

Although we might have discussion on what the bill says or who will or won't support it, the underlying issue is that the moral compass of America is pointing straight down rather than up. No, that is not south vs north.

Satan has more than a toe in the door in America. We don't not call a thing what it is but rather call evil good and good evil. We do not insist upon the will of God being done before the will of man. We do not love our neighbor as our self.

We are not involved and vocal in the public square rather being cowed by the seeming vocal majorities of homosexuals, abortionists, atheists, and all other manner of people who speak for the devil but do so vociferously and all the while abusing Christians.

We must be willing to stand up, take a stand and be willing to suffer all even death rather than to just let these things take their course. Certainly we earnestly pray that the Lord Christ will return soon and deliver us, that He will thwart the enemies, silence the avenger and the like, but this is done through us.

Preach the Word, in season and out. Do not soften it so that you will get nice Christmas gifts by those who like you. Don't make a bully pulpit either but you have the ear of God's children. Plant the Word, paint such pictures that they must look and see what is happening and it is more than just some economic recession or new government program.

All that said, the demographics of the U.S. population are such, that if this generation does not have many children per family, the American culture will go the way of other former great cultures. This may not be so bad as current American culture is depraved at best. Yet what might replace it will be even more pagan and more of the devil.

Sadly, we have many ungodly leaders who are predisposed to self and power and although they believe they are above what happens to the common man, they will sadly face the same judgment as everyone else. Pray for them and pray for us all.
