Nothing to Do with the Office of Preaching!

Here we are at the end of May and my taxes are yet to be filed, an extension has been, but the actual filing is still to be done and the hoped for refund still to be received. I hold no hope for a tax free stimulus check so the tax refund will be needed. My question to you my brothers is this: Who do you use to get your taxes done, are they thorough, reasonably priced, and timely? If you do your own taxes, is it difficult, what or where do you get all the information to be certain you have done them properly and obtained the greatest refund or paid least tax possible?

The company I use has been sold and I am not getting the service I would like and that leaves the cloud hanging longer than I desire. Help, give suggestions, what ever. Thanks.

I've used Witmer Wood in Fort Wayne (like my father before me) - and I get the returns filled out and back to me maybe 3 weeks after I send them in - which tends to be the end of February. Plus, I know that my Church Treasurer has called and asked them things, and that is covered with my usage of them. I know it's not the same with Karin taking less of a role, but it's worked well for me.

I think that maybe you just need a hug =o)

I've also been using a well-known tax accounting firm for clergy - and I have experienced a marked decrease in customer service as they have had a recent change at the top. I'm also interested in shopping around a bit.

I use a tax accountant in Long Beach who specializes in clergy and church workers. Since my wife is self-employed, our taxes can get quite complicated.

I've used Turbo Tax for several years now. The cost is very reasonable and it's pretty easy. They ask a bunch of clergy questions and thus seem to be on the ball with that. We added a few other complications this past year as well, and those went through smoothly. Once you open an account, they keep a file for you, so you are not always filling in the same info over and over each year. They also give you a copy of your taxes in pdf and print out next years quarterly tax vouchers.

I probably spend less than 2 hours per year, once I get all the supporting documents together, which I'd have to do for an accountant anyway.
